Once a year, about this time there appears a species on planet earth that comes out with one goal in mind - to impress. It is a fascinating walk around the shops in mid February to see men laden down with flowers and puzzled expressions all in the hope that they could win and impress the girl of their dreams. One journalist has said that male peacocks has a brilliant plumage to impress their bird, the lion has a luxuriant mane, while the human male simply has been given the innate ability to do stupid things. And this we seem to do with great composure.
Jay finds it fascinating when I trip over and adorable when I try new things for her - things that I don’t really want to do (or more to the point, don’t think I’m good at). It must be the Charlie Brown aspect of me.
But though the human male may have such a knack of doing silly things, God has decided to wire the female of the species to actually enjoy it to the point of thinking it cute. I don’t know which one is worse.
