Christ is the Alpha and the Omega. That is He is the First and the Last. With Alpha and Omega being the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet we can understand that Christ is the beginning and ending of all things. He has always existed and is therefore in the midst of all things. He is the full measure – the complete Word. The full language of salvation given to Man.
An ancient text brings to light further meaning to this phrase; “So also two Greek letters, the first and last, did the Lord put on Himself, symbols of the beginning and the end meeting in Him, in order that just as alpha rolls on to omega and omega returns again to alpha, so He might show that both the evolution of the beginning to the end is in Him and again the return of the end to the beginning.” (Source unknown). He is eternity – the only One who exists from the Alpha, the beginning of all things to the Omega, the ending of all things. He is completeness.
