the greatest thing about fiction is that it not to be taken literally,to do so is only cheating oneself from a great escape and this book is just that, closeminded people shouldnt be allowed to read..........or to think out loud for that matter.

You people are absolutely crazy just flat out nuts...Its called an imagination being creative. Ok yeah i guess I'm gonna burn in hell for watching a dang movie...Well guess what you'll be right there next to me for JUDGING me for watching it and allowing my child to watch it who are you people to judge anyone there is only one supposed being allowed to judge and that is your god him/her self If your god even exist, and how can you even put Pokemon into the picture it has nothing to do with witchcraft or the occult.
This stuff is strictly for entertainment and nothing more. You people need to quit taking this stuff to the extremes allow children to watch it and have fun because thats what its about is wholesome fun and entertainment...The authors of these stories aren't trying to convert your children in to witches or pagans or anything else all they're doing is giving children something they can enjoy.

Ok for 1 this movie is no way intended for small children and any parent who would allow a small child to see this movie should be slapped due to the violence.

Personally myself I loved every second of the golden compass, It is an excellent movie. I can see how the Magisterium can be compared to the church just look at the history of the church and all the war, death, and mayhem brought on by the church things such as the English crusades killing 100's of 1000's of people trying to force the belief of your god on others against their WILL their FREE WILL. Hundreds of women slaughtered for being witches because they had a mind of their own and were intelligent. Oh and Rome did far worse then the English ever did wiping out entire pagan countries(or forcing pagans to be their slaves) in order to force Christianity on others against their will. So yes i can see how the Magisterium could be compared to the church....

Now on to the demons its a fantasy story for crying out loud besides the earth they were living on was a parallel world if you payed attention to the beginning of the movie it explains that. The author was not saying that was our world but one parallel to our own universe where things are different.

It is just a simple movie nothing more its not some mans scheme to over trow the belief of god, its just a book and its just a movie quit taking it to the extremes.

I cant believe in this day and age people are still so theatened by ideas that dont go along with a god theme. Not everyone believes in the bible. I believe the bible has many good lessons to me it is not the final word on anything. I was raised catholic but was never convinced in the absolute idea mof God. I believe for a society to grow there must be change. So many have died in the name of God. No matter what the religion they all have a common theme. Most religions have their own take on who God is and what he wants. I have not seen any proof for any of it. I believe if the world is to change we must all be given the opportunity to explore our beliefs and be free to think and question these beliefs.Quit pushing God as the answer. As far as I can tell he is not. Since the creation of the one God more people have died in his name no matter what you call him.God if he does exsist washed his hands of us when he gave us Free Will. Just because one wants something to be true doesn't mean it is.

I think we should leave religion out of this. It's a story, leave it that way. From what I learned watching the movie, it seems as if it's dealing more with science....possibilities, a parallel world where things could be the opposite of Earth in a modern and ancient version at the same time.

I find it hilarious that people are afraid to read and allow their children to read books that have a different view of the world than they do. If they truly believed that their beliefs were true and made sense, they would have no trouble allowing minds to sift through "alien" ideas.

People will believe what they want to believe, in the end.
